I almost called it done last night after spending the day working on the details, but some thing seemed a bit off, so I hesitated. Today, I worked on those issues and am now calling it complete. It’s now in the store here.

work progress 10/27 – starting the skin
I started the day finishing up the paint work. I added golden orange lacing to the dress using acrylic paint. I then added a few details to the wand and belt, and tried out a pentagram tattoo on the neck.
I completed this half of the day by painting in the textured gesso over all the skin areas..

Later in the day, I began work on the skin, roughing in the color with colored pencils, and blending oil pastels over them to block in the shapes. No detail yet…

work progress 10/26 – paint
Today I tried to get through all the paint work. I started with the face, painting the eyes and mouth with gouache. Then the hair, also with gouache. I followed that up by painting a flat base red acrylic over the dress, and a dark grey for the boots. While they dried, I painted the wand and belt with black gouache, highlighting them with grey and white. Next, I used gouache in thin,watery layers to build up the shadows in the dress and boots. Then I added a few highlights with white and red for the dress, and grey for the boots. I finished the day painting the silver wave design up the boots, and the boots’ platform soles…

PS – somewhere in between some steps I painted the gold bracelet.
New art started 10/25
I spent yesterday going through photos looking for ideas. I came up with a couple, and decided on one to do next. Once designed, I got it drawn on the paper…

I had time to get it masked off and then airbrushed the background with light golden yellow acrylics. I finished it up with a generous spray of gold and red sparkles…

The color is actually much lighter, but I darkened the photo so it would show more easily.
