I started the day masking the image as usual, but instead of setting up to airbrush the background, I unmasked the dress for airbrushing. I used a few tones of bright green acrylic over the entire dress, bringing in the darker tones for the subtle shading to give it shape.
Next, I removed all the masking and began painting. Much of the afternoon was spent painting acrylic white on all the dots of the dress. Then, I moved on to the face, painting the eye lines, eyebrows and lips with watercolors and gouache. I painted the hair next, using various browns. Yesterday and today I spent going through photos once again, searching for ideas. I came up with a couple, and decided on this one…
