Part three of the series ‘Vampire Valentines’.

When we originally shot this set, I knew it was for a classic pin-up style, but it wasn’t until I was already painting it that I came across an image very close to this. Gil Elvgren did a version of this design decades ago, his girl reaching up for an apple, dressed in red and yellow (titled “Good Pickin’s”). I don’t doubt I had seen the image before, but it certainly wasn’t in the forefront of my mind as I designed it.
Fresh Peach.
I did a little extra on this piece, embossing the actually paper so that the eye ‘globes’ actually pop out a bit. It’s a bit subtle, as I didn’t want to compromise the integrity of the paper or rip it, but it does add a bit more dimension to it, making it a bit surreal. The ghost also has a silver sheen airbrushed within it – it wasn’t until the end that I thought of using florescent paint for it, but that might have gotten too bright any way, so the silver is probably best.
Alarmed!.
