New artwork started today – Twisted

I finished up the design from my newest shoot last night, and got it drawn on the illustration board this morning. In my enthusiasm, I forgot to take a photo of it though, so there’s only one shot for today (I did enhance the pencil lines so it’s still visible and not blown out).
I masked out the image, then began layering the background on. First step, I filled a brush with light turquoise acrylic paint (watered down), and dripped and sprayed it over all. I repeated this step with a blue. Then, with the drops still wet, I used the airbrush to blow just air onto it, directing from the center to the outer edges of the board.
Once that was dry, I airbrushed various acrylic colors over it, starting with a magenta, working darker toward purple and then blue. I finished the airbrushing with a very dark red along the edges.
To complete the background, I once again splattered some of the turquoise paint over it. Hopefully it looks funky and fun…
